Playing
Bridge Baron on The Internet
In general if you have a ‘fake’ IP
address and the person you are trying to play with has a ‘real’ IP address you want to have him/her hosting the game and you
joining the game, this might automatically solve all your problems!
Case 1. You have a Bridge
Baron 15 and you are trying to connect to a host, once you are connected you
get the error:
“Unable to join the game.
Joining games currently in progress is not allowed.
You are being returned to the main menu.”
Probable cause: either you
or the host, do not have the latest version of Baron 15 available.
Suggestion: You should both (you and the person
who was hosting) leave the table, then click on File and select “Check for
Bridge Baron 15 Updates” – this will update you to the latest version available!
Case 2. You have a ‘fake’
IP address on your computer and when you host a game with Bridge Baron your
friends cannot connect to you.
Probable cause: Here’s the
situation – since you have a ‘fake’ IP address your friend’s computer cannot
see your computer.
Suggestion: To make that
possible you have to do 2 things:
1.
To find out what is the ‘real’ WAN IP address of your router
(your router has 2 IP addresses, one is called WAN address and it is a ‘real’
IP address, visible to the outside world, and the other is a LAN address – a
‘fake’ IP address, very similar to your computer’s ‘fake’ IP address, that
makes the router visible to the local computers) and give that ‘real’ IP
address to your friend. To find the
real IP address of your router, just click on one of these links: link1 or link2
2.
You must tell your router to reroute the internet traffic
designated for Bridge Baron that comes on certain ports to your computer. The default port for Bridge Baron 14 is 2020

and for Bridge Baron 15 it is 2302

How do you tell your router to
reroute the traffic that comes on a certain port to your computer, I will give you
an example with a D-Link Router Model DI-514, for your specific router, please
check your manual! Access the router
setup, then select Advanced, then click on Virtual Server, for private IP use
your computer’s ‘fake’ IP, for Protocol Type (TCP or UDP) use both if possible,
if not try first UDP, for public and private port use the Bridge Baron port.
Then click on “Apply”. Some routers
require reboot before the new settings take effect.

Case 3. You have a ‘fake’
IP address on your computer and you cannot connect to your friend who is
hosting the game.
Probable cause: Your friend
is having issues hosting.
Suggestions: If your friend
has a ‘fake’ IP address, first make sure he has given you the correct ‘real’ IP
address of his/her router, please have them read carefully all of this page and especially Case 2 (just above)
on this page! If your friend has a
‘real’ IP address, have them check Case 3 on this page.
